Thursday Throwback: Non-Boyfriend Games
For this week’s Throwback Thursday, Funfetti chose “Non-Boyfriend Games” by yours truly, Red Velvet.
It’s the perfect choice because lately I’ve been thinking about the old non-boyfriend. The past few weeks he’s been showing up on my Twitter feed, thanks to (former) mutual friends (who I am now considering unfollowing). And it just got me wondering about how he is, if he ever thinks about me. Plus it’s usually around this time (after 6 months of not talking) that he tends to pop back into my life. Re-reading this entry reminded me (as if I needed one) why I don’t want that to happen.
Here’s a preview:
If there’s anything I hate, it’s when people say things they don’t mean. You know that saying - if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all? It should be applied to this too. If there’s no truth behind your words, then I don’t want to hear it. I mean, what’s the point? You get the other person’s hopes up only to inevitably disappoint and hurt them.
Do I sound bitter? It’s okay, I admit it: I am feeling a little bitter. Once again, my non-boyfriend (as my friends have affectionately called him for years) has let me down with all his (empty) words and (fake) promises.
Let’s go back six months.
Enjoy!
