Couple of Crumbs

Hi! Welcome to our little blog, run by two old friends who just want to have a place to write... anything we please. Thanks for stopping by!

Funfetti is trying to defy the evils of writer's block one project at a time.

Red Velvet is a quirky little cupcake trying to channel her inner writer.

Nine days into November, and I’m finally ready to present the first blog in our new series. I apologize for that. You know when you are all excited about getting ahead and then you actually fall behind? This is exactly what has happened to me in the last two weeks. When Red Velvet and I decided to pick out some new young adult novels to read for COC, I bought them and started them immediately. In fact, I have read both books I’m reviewing twice. And now, I’m late. But that’s okay because it’s better to be late than to not show up!

As I’m sure you know by now, Red Velvet and I love to read. It was pretty easy to decide to take a break from the movies, and review some books. I hope you enjoy our reviews! What have YOU been reading lately? (We are always open to more recommendations!)

Follow the Yellow Book Road

I love books. Like ridiculously love them. (In fact, embarrassingly enough, my screen-name was once Bookworm85.) At the moment, I am very sad that most of my books are sitting in our office closet because we haven’t been able to afford nice book shelves yet (or figure out where to put them exactly). So for now, they are resting in bags and boxes. Waiting to come out.

Do you remember the first book you ever read? I do. It was “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” by Eric Carle. I was in Mrs. Grader’s kindergarten class, and I remember borrowing the book to bring home to my parents. AND I READ IT. Okay, there was a little memorization involved but so what – I had done it. And no one was stopping me when it came to reading more.

Left on the Shelf

By: Red Velvet

Recently, I was cleaning out my bookcase for a garage sale. As I skimmed all the titles, I suddenly remembered why I hardly ever part with books.  It often feels like parting with a memory or with a piece of myself.  I know what you’re thinking — a book is just papers filled with words and bound together with a pretty cover. More than likely I’ll read it once or twice and be done with it.

But books (and reading) mean so much more to me.
