Couple of Crumbs

Hi! Welcome to our little blog, run by two old friends who just want to have a place to write... anything we please. Thanks for stopping by!

Funfetti is trying to defy the evils of writer's block one project at a time.

Red Velvet is a quirky little cupcake trying to channel her inner writer.

Something Sweet in September: Funfetti Bakes & Burns

Can you believe it’s September? Almost time for light jackets, falling leaves, and pumpkin-flavored everything! But for now, it is time for a new series. These cupcakes are baking cupcakes, and sharing their adventures with you. Red Velvet and I will be alternating weeks, and coming to you with (hopefully) four new recipes for you to try on your own.

I should probably start by saying… I baked my first batch of brownies a little over ago. And a few months after that, started baking my own cupcakes from scratch. Turns out, I loved it! It’s become sort of a “thing” with me to bake cupcakes for parties at home, work, or just when I’m visiting someone. I’ve tried a lot of recipes from Martha Stewart’s Cupcake Book and also found quite a bit online. I swear you can search almost any combination and find a cupcake that matches it.

This particular recipe is one that I found a few months ago, and had filed away in my email. Finally! An occasion to make it. It also helped that I had all the ingredients except one in the house. Not only was the recipe cost-effective, but it’s rather low maintenance too, which is nice when you just want to throw something special together and don’t have a lot of time.

Enough blabbing… on to the recipe!

Full Disclosure

By: Funfetti

A very good friend of mine took me to see a musical last week. (Shout out to friend, who is a huge supporter of the site and just celebrated her birthday yesterday!) Anyway, there was a scene in the first act where a family hosts their daughter’s boyfriend’s family for a special dinner and they decide to play a game called “full disclosure”… everyone has to take a sip out of a chalice and say one completely honest thing. Of course, it creates all kinds of mayhem between the characters and this is where Act 1 ends.

Here I am sipping from my chalice (a.k.a. purple water bottle) and giving you my FULL DISCLOSURE.

At the moment, I am very freaked out about my money situation.

thursday 3.

Or more like… friday 3 (AM). Enjoy!

Red Velvet:

  • I’m a total sucker for stationery and pretty packaging. I have so many unused notebooks, pens and pads of paper lying around.
  • Speaking of weaknesses, I also love Sanrio. Yes I’m a 27-year-old who sometimes carries around a Hello Kitty tote bag, pen, mirror compact.. I think I’ll stop now. But you get the picture.
  • I don’t like sleeping by myself in complete darkness. In college, I’d leave the TV on mute all night but now, I just leave the door open (which is why I don’t have an AC in my room).

Funfetti:

  • I never used to drink beer. I always thought it smelt horrible, but that was because it was cheap, gross beer. Now, I’m sort of a snob (this is Mr. FF’s fault). Favorites: Sam Adam’s Winter Lager, Magic Hat’s Summer Ale, and anything with a hint of fruit.
  • I kinda love to clean. I know I complain about it. But I love how productive it feels.
  • Makeup. I love different eyeshadows, and liners but I never wear foundation if I can help it. I don’t think I look like myself at all, and it’s just SO much work. I prefer my bare face (pimples and all).

Bright Light #2.5: Focusing on Cate

When we first set out to write this series on Life Unexpected, we planned out four different entries, one each week of August. But we just have too much to say! Last week, we posted about Lux and now here we are with our thoughts about Cate. Again, we wrote this one a little different. FF begins writing about Cate’s character, and RV finishes with Cate’s relationships with Baze and Ryan. (Thank God we have word limits for one another, these could have gone on forever!)

Thanks for reading! And in even more exciting news, we are less than a month away from Life Unexpected Season 2 premiere!
