Couple of Crumbs

A very good friend of mine took me to see a musical last week. (Shout out to friend, who is a huge supporter of the site and just celebrated her birthday yesterday!) Anyway, there was a scene in the first act where a family hosts their daughter’s boyfriend’s family for a special dinner and they decide to play a game called “full disclosure”… everyone has to take a sip out of a chalice and say one completely honest thing. Of course, it creates all kinds of mayhem between the characters and this is where Act 1 ends.

Here I am sipping from my chalice (a.k.a. purple water bottle) and giving you my FULL DISCLOSURE.

At the moment, I am very freaked out about my money situation.

Home Work.

Home. You love it. You hate it. You are scared shitless to leave. You cannot wait to get out. Births. Deaths. Celebrations. Disappointments. Home is the central hub to your life.

That’s a big responsibility for such a small word.

For almost 25 years I lived in one house. White siding and brick with a porch. A pool. The hum of the parkway in the backyard. (Although after so many years, I don’t even hear it anymore.) Of course, there were the three years I lived at school. But this was the place I came home to break, to celebrate, to fight with my parents (hey, it happens).

And now, I’m living 50 miles away, with a big apple in between. A new place to christen a home.

Nine months after I unloaded the last of my things, I’m still trying to figure out this transition from home to home. What to call which. How to feel what where.
