Couple of Crumbs

Hi! Welcome to our little blog, run by two old friends who just want to have a place to write... anything we please. Thanks for stopping by!

Funfetti is trying to defy the evils of writer's block one project at a time.

Red Velvet is a quirky little cupcake trying to channel her inner writer.

Funfetti #2: Listen

Listen.

What song did you listen to in 2011 to completely change your mood?  Think about ways you can you add more music to your life in 2012.

My iPod and I are pretty much inseparable when it comes to commuting during the work week. This year though, I’ve discovered the joy of podcasts and don’t listen to quite as much. But it’s still there in the background while I work, when I clean, and even when I shower. While it’s so hard to pick one stand-out song of the year, I can’t help to choose Celebrate You by Corbin Bleu from High School Musical. (He was on Broadway too.) It was the song that our wedding party walked out to at our reception and one that one of my best friends used in her wedding video, and I believe it was also in some of those VISIT WALT DISNEY WORLD commercials that always make me so happy to see.

Plus, it’s a staple in my gym playlists. So while it reminds me of happy times, it also motivates me.

I’m not sure how to integrate more into my life in 2012 but perhaps I’ll be better at reminding myself sometimes it’s refreshing to ditch the podcasts and listen to music on my walk to and from work.

Red Velvet #2: Listen

Listen.

What song did you listen to in 2011 to completely change your mood?  Think about ways you can you add more music to your life in 2012.

I’m constantly listening to music and looking for new bands so the thought of picking one song seemed pretty impossible.  But then I decided to go with the first one that popped into my head - “I Got” by Young the Giant.  I heard about the band over the summer from a friend, who was sending me various YouTube videos of their songs.  But it was when I heard “I Got” (from their In the Open sessions) that I was hooked. Honestly, I’m not even sure I understand what the song is about.  But whenever I hear that infectious beat and that guy’s voice singing “I got buried, no it won’t be long before I rise in..” - I can’t help bobbing my head along (and wishing he was singing to me!).  Even my five-year-old nephew approves of the song.  According to him, it’s cool so hopefully you think so too!

Also, as for ways to add more music to my life.. I need to go to some concerts next year! I haven’t been to one in forever and I miss it.  Who knows.. maybe I’ll go see Young the Giant.

Summer Lovin’: One Girl. Four Countries. Twenty-Five Days. (Part 1)

”Fight the future” is a shy cupcake who lives in her own little world. A pop culture geek, lover of languages and different cultures, and professional daydreamer, her mind usually takes her to mind-blowing places. She is fearless. If she sets her heart on something, she knows she will get it… or that’s what she likes to believe.

This summer, I decided to make one of my wildest dreams come true.

It started when my sister and I bought tickets for not one, but two music festivals - one of which included sleeping under the stars for three nights. But a suggestion from my sister turned it into something much different. I took the plunge and decided on a detour. Or a series of them.

Going on an adventure throughout Europe to see the sights I’ve always longed to see.

Throwback Thursday: Mood Music

It’s been another busy week for us, and we are both more than anxious to get to a three-day weekend! The summer is finally upon us! Today’s throwback is not an oldie, but certainly a goodie. I was so impressed with Red Velvet & S’more’s Mood Music post that I thought it just HAD to be posted again. In this particular blog, both gals break down their “go-to” songs from their college days and presently.

And for just for fun, here is the song that perfectly fits my mood today:

It also kind of fits in with the crowning of the new American Idol winner, which I could totally care less about. ha! BTW, What is Jason Castro doing these days? (Remember when he was on that Cheyenne reality show on MTV? And now they are both semi-famous… [she’s in a band called Gloriana now])!

Sleeping to Dream: Week #3 (OUR 200TH POST!)

[Hooray! A week after our 1 year anniversary, we have officially hit our 200th post! Thanks to all those who have been reading! Yay!]

Red Velvet:

Dream #1: One of my best friends and I are in the audience watching Britney Spears and ‘NSync perform at some award show. They’re performing oldies like “Oops I Did It Again” and “Bye Bye bye” together and we’re all excited about it. Then suddenly it switches from us being in the audience to us just watching the show on TV. We start criticizing the choreography and I exclaim, that’s not how the dance goes and I proceed to demonstrate the correct moves for Oops I Did It Again… and I wake up.

The sad thing is, I actually did know the choreography for that song in high school. This was when I still took dance classes and was just really into dance in general (feel free to laugh at me).  I have no idea what brought that dream on but it made me kinda chuckle to myself when I woke up.

Dream #2: I’m not sure where I am but Natalie Portman is in my dream and she’s trying to attack me, Black Swan style (you know, all psychotic and scary, like when she smashes Mila Kunis into a mirror).  I keep trying to push her away until she slowly starts to corner me and then I wake up.

Again, no idea what that dream meant, although I woke up feeling somewhat disturbed.  I haven’t even seen the Black Swan since it came out in theatres.   But I did see the DVD when I went to Best Buy to pick up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So maybe that triggered it?  It was a strange week of dreams.

Funfetti:

Dream #1: Mr. FF and I are on vacation again. This time a cruise. It seems a lot of my best friends are also on the ship. But Mr. FF & I have a room at the tip of the boat. I’m not sure if I would even call it a room because it has a window that does not open, and if I somehow finagle my body I can get around a steel bar and feel the water hitting my face. It’s very tight and oddly shaped. The cruise docks in my hometown, where I go to my parents’ house. Mr. FF is in my room, which looks the way it did when we first started dating (twin bed, computer desk, etc.) I am in the kitchen talking to my mom, and he yells to me that we are going to be late. Apparently, we are meeting our friends at the mall for our next stop on the trip.

Apparently, Mr. FF & I vacation a lot in my dreams but this is a weird one. I feel like because of our room… maybe I’m feeling “stuck” which is true. And the connection to my childhood town is pretty strong, but almost ridiculous. (I don’t want to move back there but I do miss it a lot.) Maybe I just need to get out more. haha.

Dream #2: Miley Cyrus is my sister. That’s it.

I don’t remember anything else about this. I have no idea if Miley is actually my sister, and I still have my current one. Or she is acting AS my sister. Who knows? I have no idea where this one came from.
