Couple of Crumbs

Hi! Welcome to our little blog, run by two old friends who just want to have a place to write... anything we please. Thanks for stopping by!

Funfetti is trying to defy the evils of writer's block one project at a time.

Red Velvet is a quirky little cupcake trying to channel her inner writer.

Dear Netflix

By: Red Velvet

Joining Netflix was something I kept going back and forth with for the longest time.  I wasn’t sure if I’d make the most of it.  But then (after much encouragement from Funfetti), I did it! I joined and haven’t wasted any time taking advantage of streaming movies and television shows to my Wii on a regular basis.

That said …

Netflix, you are so lucky I love to reminisce about my old TV favorites (especially those from The WB).  That alone may have made me a fan of yours for life.

Something Sweet in September: Red Velvet’s Turn to Bake!

Baking has been one of my favorite things to do since high school.  Muffins (blueberry!), cake, cupcakes, cookies. You name it. As long as it came pre-made box, I made it!

Then one of my best friends told me about red velvet cupcakes.  At the time the flavor was uncommon (hard to imagine that, huh?) so I Googled to find out what she was talking about. This led to tons of recipes and my curiosity got the best of me.  I gave baking from scratch a try for the first time and I (along with the rest of my family) have been in love with red velvet cupcakes ever since. Since then, I’ve probably baked these for almost every family function and holiday (even venturing into red velvet cakes on occasion).  It’s my specialty, as I often like to say, and I rarely get to bake anything else (this is what everyone requests!).

Back to School

By: Red Velvet

No one was more excited than I was about my youngest cousin’s first day of college last week (including said cousin).  I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day since I went to college.  It’s a huge deal for my family - seeing our youngest not only have a goal but actually going for it.  A couple of our cousins strayed off this path (and have since gotten back on) and because of that, a lot of pressure was put on J to be different. Pressure that I’m proud to say kept him moving forward, instead of buckling under. And when his first (highly anticipated) day was over, I did what any pseudo-mom would do - I called him up to ask how it went.

Thursday 3.

Red Velvet:

  1. I don’t like ketchup so I eat my fries with mayo.
  2. I get self-conscious about my feet sometimes.  Specifically my toes.  The second one is so much longer than my big toe.. I feel like I have freak feet!
  3. Every time Troy, National Treasure or Gladiator is on TV, I watch.  I don’t know why.  Well.. I know why I keep Troy on - Brad Pitt!

Funfetti:

  1. Everyday I wear four rings… two on each hand. My engagement ring, a sterling silver Tiffany ring from Mr. FF, and on the other, a ring I got on vacation and an engraved band that my sister and I both have.
  2. I am really looking forward to the fall. It’ll be nice to wear jeans and sneakers on weekends, and be comfortable! (Also, not sweat like crazy on my way to work… so attractive!)
  3. I seriously need a good pair of boots for the fall. Any suggestions?

    A Dress

    By: Red Velvet

I’ve been trying to write this week’s entry since yesterday. The topic is so simple and yet I’ve rewritten it three times already (this would be the third). The question is - what’s your favorite piece of clothing in your closet?

    EASY.

A dress from the LOFT that I bought a month ago. (Prior to that, I probably would’ve said this black and grey striped loose-fitting Uniqlo shirt which I live in most weekends.)
