Couple of Crumbs

Hi! Welcome to our little blog, run by two old friends who just want to have a place to write... anything we please. Thanks for stopping by!

Funfetti is trying to defy the evils of writer's block one project at a time.

Red Velvet is a quirky little cupcake trying to channel her inner writer.

Connection Overload

By: Funfetti

My co-worker said something so interesting last week that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Sometimes I wish that Facebook or anything like it didn’t exist.

She’s totally right. At her age, Facebook had already infiltrated her high school experience. I can only imagine how freaking dramatic that was. We didn’t have anything like that at all… texting was kind of “the thing” and that was all dramatic enough for me. I still remember when Facebook was new and my college wasn’t even on it. Oh, those were the days.

Operation Layla: An update

Here we are at Monday again. Funny how that happens, isn’t it? I’m working on my other blog post right now, but I wanted to take a pause from that and just write up a small update about Layla. A few weeks ago, we wrote this blog, informing you of Operation Layla, a movement started by a bunch of women (talented bloggers too!) who wanted to help Layla raise money for her upcoming surgery. Since then, over $7,000 has been raised, completely paying for her surgery and even a few other necessities related to the surgery (all remaining money will be going to a charity of her choosing).

Anyway, in case you were wondering how Layla was doing, she just updated her blog with a new post about her surgery. I thought some of you might want to read it. Check it out at Wishful Fulfillment Everyday. And if you have any more questions about her surgery and Operation Layla, please be sure to check out what Layla wrote here.

I’m so glad that everything went well for Layla and she is starting to feel better via her tweets. I am so impressed by how an online community can come together and make things happen for good people who deserve it. And at such a rapid pace too!

It’s really empowering & amazing. I hope on this Monday, you feel a little bit of that too.

Sending you all the best Layla!

Life Unexpected Tonight!

Hi all! Just wanted to send out a quick reminder to check out The CW tonight for the last new episode of LUX this year. (There are two more episodes that will be airing in January!)

Like always, Red Velvet will be tweeting here. Make sure you stop by and say hi; this episode is sure to create some conversation! (Also Liz & Kris Polaha will be live tweeting during, and after the show, respectfully. Check it out here!)

Sidenote: We are so glad Tumblr is back in action! Woo!

Sidenote 2: Happy Birthday Shiri Appleby!

Psst… it’s also Tumblr Tuesday. If you love us, and want us to know - recommend us as your favorite blog! Yay! Thanks!

Last Tuesday in November

Hello folks! We hope that you had some wonderful Thanksgiving celebrations with your family and friends, and are gearing up for the winter holidays! It’s such a great time of year! Can you believe tomorrow is December 1?

Just a some COC news: We have a new layout! Woo! Hopefully it’s a little bit more organized for all of you. To the right, you can easily find links to our LUX reviews, as well as our past monthly series. (Speaking of, we start a new one on Friday!) If you ever have any suggestions for us about how to make the blog easier to navigate, let us know! Also a tiny reminder that today is Tumblr Tuesday. If you enjoy our writing, we would be so appreciative of you recommending us as your favorite blog.

Also, Life Unexpected is all new tonight on The CW Network. Just a few new episodes to go… This week celebrate a dysfunctional Thanksgiving with the entire gang. Red Velvet will be live tweeting here, as well as the amazing Liz Tigelaar (right here). Join in the fun and don’t forget to tag your tweets with #lifeunexpected and/or #savelux.

Be sure to also check out the last blog in our YA book review series: Catching Fire and also RV’s latest about the joys of cooking (recipe alert!).

P.S. Leave us a comment! We’re lonely cupcakes!

The Day after Monday!

Greetings all! Can you believe we are NINE days away from Thanksgiving? And more importantly, THREE days away from the release of The Deathly Hallows, Part 1? (Red Velvet and I are both going to see it this Saturday, look for our thoughts on it next week!) This can’t be said enough this year – the days are flying!

Anyway, here we are at Tuesday again. With some fantastic news. In the past few days, we’ve gotten almost 400 more followers and we are completely thrilled! So we wanted to take a few seconds and explain our blog for those of you who are just joining us.

More than six months ago, Red Velvet and I decided we needed to do something creative or we might keel over. So we decided to embark on a writing project. At first, we thought we would each write a blog every week, along with one joint entry. After three months, we shook things up a bit. We unveiled our first series – which means we wrote about one topic for an entire month (since then, we have had four others!). We added in Thursday3, disclosing odd facts about each other. As every week passed, RV and I were writing more and more. (Want more details? Check out our site recipe.) Basically, we just want to write! And we are… all the time!

RV and I picked out a few of our favorite entries for you to check out:

Now back to Tuesday! As you all probably know, it’s Tumblr Tuesday. If you love what we are writing and look forward to it each week, we would love if you would recommend our blog as your favorite. We are much appreciative!

Most importantly, RV and I like to think of ourselves as ambassadors of a great little show on the CW Network called “Life Unexpected”. Every week you can live tweet with Red Velvet here (and this week, Shiri [Cate] and Britt [Lux] are also live tweeting here), and then we whip up some reviews on Thursday. Make sure you tag all of your tweets with #lifeunexpected at the end of them! Here’s a little snippet of what to expect this week (from The CW):

Baze and Emma attempt to sign a high-profile client, Candy (guest star Krista Allen), who only has eyes for Baze. Lux goes to her homecoming dance hoping to see Eric but the evening takes an ugly turn for the worse. Cate explores Lux’s past and is shocked at what she discovers.

Please try to check out the episode!

I think that’s it for now! Thanks for reading! We’d love to hear from you. Message us, join our Facebook group, send us a tweet, or leave us a comment below! Cheers!
